Let me tell you a story …
There once was a happy family. A Mum, a Dad, 3 kids & a dog.
They had a lovely life, decent jobs, good friends, great family.
Have a look at them
Gorgeous huh?
They love their Mummy very much. They tell her stories, they get cuddles off her, she cares for them when they’re sick.
Their Mummy does everything for them. Her life is all about being as good a Mummy as possible.
Their Mummy rides a bike to work ….
One day, their Mummy nearly died.
Now look at the picture again & imagine the faces on those young children when their Daddy tells them that Mummy is never coming back. Mummy will never take them to school again. Mummy will never bath them again. Mummy will never see them grow into beautiful adults – can you imagine the pain that would forever be etched on their hearts?
Their Mummy nearly died because some selfish person with zero brains decided to carry out a dangerous manoeuvre in a car.
The car driver didn’t care that the person on the bike was a Wife & a Mummy – all she wanted to do was save 2 seconds of time & woe betide anybody in her way.
Why do people do this?
We are all humans, we are all entitled to share space, we all have precious lives. Not one person is more or less important than another.
I want people to stop being so selfish. To learn to share the roads, to open your eyes, to have some patience, to stop thinking about time & money before a persons life.
Put yourselves in this situation. Imagine YOUR family losing you because of a selfish act by a fellow human.
Would you change your ways?
Would you?
I hope so ……

People have told me about the fact they carry a hammer to keep cars at arms length, I dont think I will ever go that far but sometimes I am so annoyed I’m clipped in and not able to lash out with a cleated foot. I have invested in an id wristband however should the worst happen, this was mainly due to suggestons from my family. But still it doesn’t change the fact that all this wouldn’t be required if people respected other road users
I was about to turn right at a roundabout so needed to get in the right hand lane so looked behind me, saw a car quite far behind, signalled & started to move.
The car behind, however, thought it would be clever to speed up & overtake me just as I’m moving right!
Then she pulled back into the left hand lane whilst beeping at me!
What exactly happened at which roundabout? Another letter to Dave Lyonette?
Letter to your MP maybe?
